It’s become a favorite club among youth and teens, and adults and parents who attended the Magic: The Gathering event last Friday afternoon seemed to enjoy it as well.
North Fork Branch Library Manager Arthur Harriman said a huge inventory of items was donated by a nonprofit to help facilitate the club, which meets monthly, rotating between the Paonia and Hotchkiss libraries.
Although Sova Huttenholley, Joe Ward and Hartwin Hollis were the only youth who attended last Friday, Harriman said there have been up to a dozen teens who show up. Teen Joe Ward has been at every meeting since the club began a few months ago.
“I first learned Magic: The Gathering through the library, and it drew me to it,” Ward said. “I’d been playing Pokemon, but I was getting bored. It’s different even if you have the same decks … It’s a nice place to meet people that like magic because there’s not a lot around here.”
