The Friends of the Crawford Library and Friends of the Town Hall nonprofit organizations are active and making a difference in their community. Representative Susan Hansen shared projects they are doing for the town during the May 12 Crawford Board of Trustees meeting.

Hansen said the Friends of the Crawford Library organization raised over $9,000 for a new library sign through book sales and public and private donations, noting that DMEA had contributed a sizable gift.

According to Hansen, the current sign is a weak structure, and the new one will be a much larger, stronger double-sided sign with a marquee with interchangeable letters to attract patrons. She said the group aims to attract more people to the library by promoting programs, which helps solidify the future of the Crawford Library. The sign aims to have a rustic feel that fits the town and features a needle rock image on it. Hansen said the library district director has contacted the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) to ensure the sign is compliant. The group received three bids on the sign, and the library board of directors was scheduled to accept a bid.

Hansen said the new sign should be installed within six to eight weeks.
